What to pack....good question I'm still trying to figure it out. Every time I pack I promise myself that I will take less, and what do you know my bag always weighs more. I can't figure it out. Be smart, less clothes is better. Leave room in your bag, especially if your traveling for a shorter period of time. Your going to places with dope markets and everything is cheap. You will be picking up things along the way, and people are definitely going to give away stuff that will some how end up in your bag. That's ok because chances are your also going to lose stuff too. So here it is people...the list of random shit I carry.
Protein, lots of powder and bars
Peanut Butter
Vitamins and a mix of meds. I carry meds that I use back in the states when I come down with a cold or my sinuses act up. Pain relief, yes ibuprofen is my best friend.
First aid stuff: band-aid, antibiotic ointment, tape, and nail clippers
Bathroom stuff: yes I wash. Shampoo, conditioner, bar of soap, coconut oil, razor (hardly used), sunscreen, toothbrush and paste a MUST. I buy soap with a lemongrass or eucalyptus base. It helps repel mosquitoes. A quick drying towel and surrong. Oh and baby wipes, prepare for the fact that most places have no toilet paper.
Shoes: sandals, gym shoes, hiking boots, and I manage to squeeze my hippie shoes in there.
Clothes: to much clothes. I pack between 5-7 pieces of under wear, 5 pairs of socks (which get thrown out along the way), one sports bra, 2 fabric bras, 2 pairs of athletic pants, capris, 2 long sleeve shirts, a Hoodie, 3-5 bathing suits...can't blame me I live in this outfit, shorts..a lot of shorts and shirts. I bring a mixture of nicer tops and workout shirts. I don't wash after every use so I try to keep my workout clothes separate from the rest. One dress, and a couple crop tops. It's funny that I even carry this much because I feel like I wear the same thing every other day. Going into your bag can be such a daily struggle.
Random shit: camelbak, water tablets, collection of hippie jewelry from around the world, photos of friends and family, dice, cards, hammock, eye mask, ear plugs, needle and thread. And a day pack for hiking.
Electronics: phone, tablet, go pro, battery pack, extra chargers, headlamp and headphones.
Dive gear: wet-suit, mask and computer. Traveling and diving everywhere makes it hard to carry everything so I stick to the basics.
Copies of my passport and other important info. If you get stuck in a rut this can really come in handy.
