Yess shit is going to happen and you have a couple ways of going about it. Freak out, stress, cry, or get it together, think and problem solve. Life isn't perfect so don't expect it to be that way on the road.
I've been sick, really sick, cuts, bruises, infections and more. When it comes to your health take care of yourself. Go to the doctor or local pharmacy and rest. Take my recommendation when I say stay put if your sick. There is nothing worse than a travel day when your feeling ill. Stay in bed, lay on the beach, just do minimal activity. Oh and drink lots of water, hydration is key.
Your going to miss buses, planes or ferries. So suck it up and take the next one. And if one of these means of transportation breaks down (because it will) just breath and work through it. Getting stuck some where isn't the worst thing that can happen. Look for a different route if your in a time crunch and work with other travelers that are in the same boat. Sharing information is important, help one another out. This will work in your favor if you need a taxi or can split the cost of transportation.
Losing stuff...fuck it it's stuff. Move on, your going to buy more stuff shortly anyways.
Passport, identity, and credit card. OK so this can be scary and I have experienced this personally. Something happens to your passport get to your embassy as quickly as you can. You'll be able to get things straightened out in a day or so depending on the issue. Things will work out. Keep another form of ID on you and copies of important documents. If you lose your card, credit or debit well I hope you have friends lol. No seriously there are ways around this. First call your bank or card company and cancel it. Check to see if it has been used as well, you don't want to pay for shit someone else went shopping for. If you need money, borrow money from a friend, and transfer funds into their bank account. You can also have money wired to you, there are western unions everywhere. The world is an honest place, believe in the universe and things will workout.
